Bronze pendant Eihwaz - order runic jewelry or Viking jewelry onlineHigh-quality silver, noble pewter or polished bronze are usually well tolerated by the skin. Only a few people have an allergy to bronze. Rune pendants in the online shop of LARP-Fashion.co.uk decorate or complete your garb or that of your friends. Look for the right rune, choose the right pendant and then put your choice into the shopping cart. With the good price for our high-quality rune pendants, you can order a few for shipping right away. Or you can make your pre-selection of the pendants with the Wish list and then look at them again individually. In the description of the individual rune pendants we have written down the classical meaning for you. Depending on the doctrine or school, the meaning of a rune can also find additions. Sometimes the runes form a very specific message in combination with other runes. Each of these pendants comes with a leather or cotton ribbon. The single rune has its conventional form, which ends with a small ring for the leather or cotton ribbon as a pendant.

Many of the runes from our online shop are attached to a small rectangular plate which is looped by an ornamental ribbon. The pendants with the rune circle made of bronze and the rune cross made of pewter have the shape corresponding to their name. A rune made of silver, bronze or pewter as a pendant for your shopping basket is jewellery that you can wear on any occasion.

Why a rune as a jewellery pendant?

Silver pendant Berkana - rune pendant silver or bronze from LARP FASHIONA rune as a jewellery pendant not only has style and class, but each rune is also associated with a message. The history and exact origin of the runes is lost in the dark. However, we know a lot about the meaning of each rune, and you can choose your pendant or the pendant for a friend according to this meaning. But the meaning of the rune takes a different direction depending on the time and the tribe. This is because the runes did not develop as a separate written form. For the Germanic peoples and the Vikings, they possessed more symbolic power, similar to the image of Thor's hammer. Archaeologists have discovered over 6,500 finds with the rune series. They are spread over the entire Germanic sphere of influence. Since a rune was probably mainly engraved, etched or burnt on wood in the first decades, not too many finds from the early period have come down to us. It was not until later that the Vikings and Germanic tribes stamped them as jewellery on pendants, bracelets, necklaces or even rings made of metal.

At first, of course, they used bronze for the jewellery, but later they also used silver. The first runes were probably developed around the turn of the millennium or a little earlier. Historians do not agree on whether the Vikings and Germanic tribes adopted the runes from the Latin, Etruscan, Phoenician or Greek alphabets. The Germanic peoples of that time had close contacts with all of these peoples, and all of them had a real written language. The runes are therefore a kind of shortened and stylised representation of those letters. The amazing thing about the runes, however, is that each rune has certain different properties in its form. These properties come from each of the four fonts.

The Futhark for your shopping basket

Pewter pendant Fehu - rune pendant or Viking jewelry for your next LARP eventSo perhaps it is more likely that the characters of the different peoples reached the Germanic peoples over a few centuries. Then slowly a separate Germanic tradition developed in different places. One of the characteristics is that each rune has a name. This begins with the sound that the rune represents, e.g. Fehu for the F rune. Fehu stands for cattle and wealth. This rune is also the first in the rune series, which, by the way, consisted of 24 sounds from the beginning. The name of this runic series is Futhark, whereby the th in the middle of Futhark is only one sound. This þ sound corresponds to the English th. A distinction is made between the older Futhark around the turn of time and the younger Futhark from 500 years later. The name Futhark refers to the sounds of the first 6 runes in this series. It is exciting that the runes were not used as a real written language for many centuries, but only as a symbolic language.

It was not until the High Middle Ages that the runes were also used as writing in Scandinavia by the descendants of the Vikings - and that even into the 19th century.

A silver pendant with an ancient tradition

Bronze pendant Nefertiti - rune pendant from the shipping shopDuring the first thousand years, however, the runes possessed pure symbolic power for Vikings and Germanic tribes. So naturally the runes had magical significance as jewellery or on weapons. Many generations of Germanic people invoked fate with a rune and believed in its divinatory meaning. They used the runes as oracles and for protection against adversity.

People wore their own protective rune as a pendant or necklace. The rune series as a whole represented the totality of the world. Thus the runes easily surpass e.g. the tarot in age and meaning. If you order a rune pendant made of bronze or silver as jewellery for yourself or a friend, you are following an ancient tradition that may bring you luck.
